Each and every personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, together with any applications that are present on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, any app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS
We provide as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs available on the market and we offer all 3 instead of only 1 since we realize that you might want to install some software that has specific requirements for the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there are various software applications you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you want to use one and that is why we offer multiple Control Panels too. In case you decide that you want a different OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting
In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a larger choice for the system environment on your server as different applications may have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and benefit from a stable and safe web hosting service. Depending on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software that you want to run. We can also update your OS routinely to keep it as secure as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
